Well Jackie and the kids are putting on a little going away dinner for Roger. He is leaving tomorrow to go back to the blind rehab center in Hines, Illinois. He will be gone a month. Now for me to see what I can get done while he is gone! Plus we are in a weight competition while he is gone. I hope to lose at LEAST another 10 lbs while he is gone; hopefully more than that. I'm excited about the 10 I've already lost. I had lost 11 but we splurged the other day on the way back from Ann Arbor and stopped at the Lyon Cantina. We shared a big taco salad and a dish of jalapeno poppers. Yes I know they are not good (filled with cream cheese and deep fried) but they were tasty and we don't usually do stuff like that. So now I'm back to being more careful of what I eat. I'm leaning more toward a vegan diet but I will not become a total vegan. I do believe it is a better way of eating; my problem is I still love my meat. I am just eating much smaller portions of it and trying to cook it more healthfully.
I did finally manage to make 2 blocks for Jamie's daughter's baby quilt but silly me did not remember to take a picture, and I have already sent it out so I can only ask her to take a pic of it when she gets it. LOL I had to MAKE myself sit down and sew. I've got so much going on, what with getting hubby ready to go and trying to keep up with the house and yard and such during this blasted heat wave. The other day we topped out at 100°! I can't do the heat and certainly not the humidity. And our air conditioner is not working correctly so it's making it miserable. I can't imagine if it wasn't working at all; it's working at about 50% right now. So at least I get some relief but sure not much. If I buy another I want it to be energy efficient. I don't turn it on all the time because it is so expensive to run! My last light bill was $179 and I only ran it about 8 days. I'm terrified to get this month's bill!
Anyway I am just rambling here. I better get off the computer and get things ready; I don't want any messes when everybody gets here!
Oops I better post a pic before I go!
This is a picture of me and my 97 year old neighbor, Margaret. She is a very sweet person and I am so glad we became friends!
Blessings!
